Post Your Cases > Local anesthesia toxicity with Ultracaine (atracaine) before tooth extraction

The patient was visiting the outpatient clinic for tooth extraction. She was given a local anesthetic: Ultracaine (articaine + adrenaline). Within seconds after the injection she lost conciousness and had a seizure. After the seizure she woke up spontanously, but showed some altered conciousness that could be postictal. This and her nausea/vomiting disapperead immediately after starting Intralipid. She was admitted to the hospital for overnight observation and monitoring.
