Post Your Cases > Intralipid Infusion

Hi All,

I'm a pharmacist trying to set up a LAST protocol in the OR and L&D, but we ran into this issue where Intralipid standard infusion rate cannot override the hard limit on IV pump. Most of IV pumps in the inpatient setting has the hard limit of 999ml/hr.

So, if we are starting the infusion at 0.25ml/kg/min for patients > 70kg, it's well over 1000ml/hr, which is not allowed using the smart IV pump. We have used two iv pumps in the last incidence running the infusion at 0.125ml/kg/min. I read a few of cases and they seemed to use X amount of fat (ml) over 30 minutes or so... however, we weren't able to put "30min" or any time limit on the pump... Any suggestion..?
